Youth SDGs & Climate Action Conference – Khartoum, 23–24 October 2022

EcoNile is proud to have served as an official organizing partner for the Second Edition of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Sudan, held in Khartoum on 23–24 October 2022. This national gathering brought together young climate leaders, innovators, and sustainability advocates to strengthen youth engagement in climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

LCOY Sudan

The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is part of a global youth-led movement that began expanding in 2015. By 2017, YOUNGO—the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC—established a formal process to endorse and empower youth organizations to host Local and Regional COYs worldwide.

LCOY Sudan provides a national platform where young people:

• Build their capacities in climate action and SDG implementation

• Engage in policy discussions on Sudan’s environmental priorities

• Develop youth-led recommendations that feed into the Global COY

•Contribute to youth positions presented at UNFCCC climate negotiations

By taking place shortly before the Global COY, LCOY Sudan ensures that Sudanese youth voices are represented in global climate decision-making.

EcoNile’s Role

As an organizing partner, EcoNile contributed to:

  • •Facilitating sessions on SDGs, climate resilience, and community action
  • • Empowering young participants with leadership and environmental tools
  • • Strengthening collaboration among youth-led climate initiatives across Sudan
